ABOUT ME
I’m AI Trust & Safety Research Scientist, Professor, Tech Founder, and Public Interest Technology Strategist based in Chicago, IL. I conduct research at the intersections of society + AI/ML technology + innovation + equity-oriented outcomes. I completed my Ph.D in Human Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington, where I was co-advised by UW HCDE Professors Dr. Julie A. Kientz and Dr. Daniela K. Rosner.
I am an incoming Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Human-Computer Interaction) at DePaul University - College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) - School of Computing, where I am directing the Responsible AI Systems & Societal Experiences (RAISE) Lab, advancing critical socio-technical research on responsible AI and democratic data governance. Previously I was an Adjunct Professor of Design Strategy for the University of Southern California USC Iovine and Young Academy. My professional experience span AI and software product innovation as the Founder of AmendLabs and JaliaTechnologies, along with industry technology research roles broadly in Responsible AI at Google PAIR (People + AI Research), Apple AI/ML (Human-centered Machine Intelligence), Microsoft Research (FAIR Group), and Meta (Infrastructure).
